Dr. Harvey Aluni

Dr. Harvey Aluni

Dr. Harvey graduated from the University of MN College of Veterinary Medicine in 1971, practiced for two years in St. Paul and founded Northland Animal Hospital in 1973. He is married and has three adult children, three cats and three dogs. He enjoys all areas of small animal practice and appreciates the fact that many clients consider their pets family members.

Dr. Harvey commonly has seen two generations of family members with their pets. In his spare time, he enjoys camping, boating, fishing, four wheeling, and spending time at his lake home with his family, especially with his three grandchildren.
Dr. Brian Aluni

Dr. Brian Aluni

Brian is from Virginia and obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Minnesota in Duluth in 2009. After graduating from the University of MN College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2014, he then joined the staff at Northland Animal Hospital.

Dr. Brian brings the most recent knowledge from the University Veterinary Hospital. He is very excited to return home to live and work on the Iron Range. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, grouse hunting and four-wheeling with his two miniature schnauzers, Billiam and Furfluffle.

Dr. Abby Pontinen

Dr. Abby Pontinen

Abby is a native of Hoyt Lakes and now lives in the area with her husband, four-year old son, two furry children, their German shorthair pointers “Sarge” and “Lieu.” She earned her undergraduate from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, studied abroad in Australia and then earned her DVM degree at the University of MN College Of Veterinary Medicine in 2008.

She enjoys spending time outdoors; pheasant, grouse and deer hunting and spending time with her family. She enjoys all aspects and challenges of practicing medicine in a smaller town and really enjoys getting to know her clients and their pets on a more personal level. Her person interests include sporting breed dogs, cats with urinary obstructions, and soft tissue surgery.
